"Take a rain check" 

구문은 일반적으로 비공식한 상황에서, 특히 사회적 맥락에서 자주 사용되는 관용구입니다. 

누군가가 다른 사람에게 "take a rain check"라고 말하면 본질적으로 초대나 제안을 현재 거절하고, 

나중에 그것을 받아들이거나 비슷한 일을 하려는 의사를 표현하는 것입니다.

다시 말해, 이것은 초대나 제안을 직접 거절하지 않고 공손하게 거절하는 방법입니다. 

이것은 그 사람이 관심은 있지만 현재 사용할 수 없거나 초대나 제안에 

현재 참여할 준비가 되어 있지 않다는 것을 시사합니다. 

대신, 그들은 나중에 일정을 잡거나 그 제안을 고려할 준비가 되어 있다는 것을 나타냅니다.

예를 들어, 친구가 오늘 밤 영화에 초대하면서, 당신이 이미 다른 계획이 있어 참석할 수 없다면, 

"오늘 밤은 안 되지만, 나중에 기회가 되면 가고 싶어. 다음 주에 함께할래?"라고 말할 수 있습니다. 

이것은 초대를 받고 싶지만 다른 기회에 받고 싶다는 것을 나타냅니다.
