"Pipe dream"

"파이프 드림"이라는 용어는 도달하기 어렵거나 공상적인 아이디어나 계획을 가리킵니다.

종종 너무 비현실적이어서 실현될 가능성이 거의 없습니다.

이 표현은 원래 아편 파이프를 피운 사람들이 경험한 환각에서 유래되었습니다.

이런 꿈들은 생생하지만 현실과는 완전히 동떨어져 있었기 때문에 이 용어가 사용되었습니다.

오늘날에는 성공 가능성이 매우 낮은, 현실적이지 않은 희망이나 계획을 묘사하는 데 사용됩니다.

 

한 마디로

"헛된 꿈 (or 공상 or 망상)"이라는 소리입니다. ^^
