"So much for"

기대나 희망했던 일이 일어나지 않거나 예상과 다르게 전개될 때 실망이나 포기를 표현하는 관용구입니다.

그것은 노력이나 기대가 헛되었음을 나타내거나 잘못된 것으로 판명되었음을 시사합니다.

또한 특정 상황이나 아이디어의 종료를 의미할 수도 있습니다.

 

한 마디로

"이제 됐다, 끝났다"라는 소리입니다. ^^

8) I thought I could finish the project by the deadline, but there were too many unexpected delays, so much for my time management skills.

 

9) I was looking forward to trying the new restaurant, but it was closed when we got there, so much for our dinner plans.

 

10) We were hoping for a peaceful family gathering, but it turned into a heated argument, so much for harmony.
