Touch and go 처음 이 표현을 접했을 때는 NFL 용어인 줄 알았다.

공을 받고 달려라! 역동성이 느껴지는 표현이다.

하지만 실제는 정반대의 의미로 사용된다.

 

조종사들은 비행기 바퀴가 활주로에 살짝 닿았다가 

멈추지 않고 곧바로 다시 이륙하는 touch and go 연습을 하는데 

위험하고 아슬아슬한 훈련이라고 한다.

이 용어가 일상생활에 들어와 '아슬아슬한' 혹은 '불확실한'이라는 뜻의

이디엄이 되었다는 게 정설이다. 

 

Uncertain, precarious, delicate, unstable 한 상황에서

touch and go를 활용할 수 있다.

또한

성공과 실패가 걸린 상황

좋은 결과가 나올지 나쁜 결과가 나올지 모르는 상황에도 

Touch and go를 활용할 수 있다.
