롤플레잉 회화연습: 여행 영어(4) 호텔 체크인하기 

여행지에 도착해서 호텔 체크인을 하러 간다. 

체크인이라는 게 여권과 예약정보만 보여주면 

영어 한마디 필요 없이 가능하다.

그런데 영어를 잘하면 좋은 점은,

내가 원하는 방에 제대로 체크인이 되었는지 확인도 할 수 있고

주변 관광지에 대한 정보도 더 많이 얻을 수 있다는 점이다. 

특히 여행책이나 블로그에서 얻는 정보가 아닌

현지인에게 듣는 정보라서 값진 정보들이다. 

 

파리와 같은 여행객이 많은 지역의 호텔은

대부분의 호텔 직원들은 주변 관광지역에 대한 교육을 받는다.

호텔 직원들만큼 전문가가 또 없다. 

그래서 영어를 잘하면 주변 둘러볼만한 곳에 대해서 

양질의 정보도 얻을 수 있고 더 많은 호의를 받을 수 있다.

 

다음 대화는 Camila와 Brandon이 파리의 호텔에 도착하여

체크인을 하고 주변 관광을 물어보는 스몰토크로 구성되어 있다. 

 

파트 A, B로 나뉘고 

A는 영어만 / B는 한국어 해석과 같이 구성되어 있다.  

A로 말하기 연습을 하고 본인이 이해한 것이 맞는지 B로 확인하면 된다.    

 

시작합니다.

Front Desk Staff: (warmly) "Bonjour! Welcome to Paris hotel. How can I assist you today?"

Brandon: (with a smile) "Bonjour! We've just arrived in Paris and have a reservation.

Our names are Camila and Brandon."

Front Desk Staff: "Bonjour, Camila and Brandon. It's a pleasure to have you with us.

Let me just retrieve your reservation from our system."

Camila: "Thank you. We're really looking forward to our stay."

Front Desk Staff: "Found it! You're all set. Here are your room keys. 

You'll be staying in Room 302."

Brandon: "Thank you so much.

Could you also give us some recommendations for attractions or nice places to visit around the hotel?"

Front Desk Staff: "Certainly, I'd be happy to help. 

The Louvre Museum is just a short distance away from here,

and it's an absolute must-see for art and history enthusiasts. 

The Notre-Dame Cathedral is also within reach and offers breathtaking architecture."

Camila: "Those sound amazing. How about places to grab a drink or enjoy some local cuisine?"

Front Desk Staff: "For a taste of Parisian nightlife, I recommend exploring the Le Marais district. 

It's known for its charming cafés, lively bars, and eclectic boutiques. 

You'll find some great options for both food and drinks there."

Brandon: "Sounds fantastic. We really appreciate the suggestions."

Front Desk Staff: "You're welcome! Paris has so much to offer, and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time exploring. 

If you need more recommendations or assistance during your stay, don't hesitate to reach out.

브랜든이랑 카밀라 이름으로요.

안녕하세요, 카밀라 브랜든 씨. 저희 호텔에서 두 분 모시게 되어 영광입니다. 

잠시 예약정보를 확인해보겠습니다. 

Camila: "Thank you. We're really looking forward to our stay."
감사합니다. 이 호텔 너무 기대되요. 

Front Desk Staff: "Found it! You're all set. Here are your room keys. 

You'll be staying in Room 302."
예약 확인 되었네요. 다 준비 되었습니다. 키 여기 있고요. 

302호로 가시면 됩니다. 

 

Camila: "Would it be possible to get the Wifi password for the room?"

혹시 방에 와이파이 비밀번호 알수 있나요?

 

Front Desk Staff: "Yes, you can connect to the hotel's Wifi network with this password."

네 이 번호로 호텔 와이파이 연결해서 쓰시면 됩니다. 

Brandon: "Thank you so much.

Could you also give us some recommendations for attractions or nice places to visit around the hotel?"
감사합니다.

아, 그리고 호텔 근처에 가볼 만한 장소 좀 추천해 주실 수 있으세요? 

Front Desk Staff: "Certainly, I'd be happy to help.
