미국에서 자주 쓰는 생활 영어: Piece of cake

미국식 생활영어표현 알려드리는 카니잉글리시입니다.

 

Piece of cake라는 표현은 어떤 일이나 상황이 아주 쉬운 것을 의미하는 영어 관용어구입니다. 

이것은 노력, 기술 또는 난이도가 거의 없이 수행되는 작업, 활동 또는 상황을 묘사하는 데 사용됩니다. 

말 그대로 케이크 한 조각을 먹는 것이 쉽고 즐거운 일인 것처럼, 

이 관용구는 주어진 작업이 비슷하게 간단하고 도전적이지 않다는 것을 나타냅니다.

누군가가 

"The math problem was a piece of cake"

(그 수학 문제는 쉬웠어요)라고 말하면, 

그 수학 문제를 푸는 것이 그들에게 매우 쉽다는 것을 의미합니다. 

마찬가지로 누군가가 

"Fixing the broken faucet was a piece of cake"

(고장 난 수도꼭지를 고치는 게 쉬운 일이었어요)"라고 말하면, 

그들은 수도꼭지를 수리하는 것이 간단하고 복잡하지 않은 작업이라는 것을 의미합니다. 

이 관용구는 작업이 얼마나 쉽게 수행될 수 있는지를 강조하는 데 사용됩니다.
